    What is tempered glass?

Tempered glass is much harder than standard glass manufactured through a process of extreme heating and rapid cooling. Regular, annealed glass undergoes a thermal tempering process that increases its strength and changes its composition to shatters differently. Due to the tempering process, when this type of glass is broken, it breaks into small, rounded chunks instead of sharp, jagged shards. Regular, untreated glass is known to shatter into sharp pieces called spall, which are a significant cause of injury in the cases of extreme weather or attacks like bomb blasts. Tempered glass is often referred to as “safety glass” for its ability to prevent spall and keep building occupants safe. Tempered glass is often used in car windows, shower doors, glass tables, and other installations where increased safety standards are necessary.

    Glass thickness

Glass thickness can define the way your glass looks and feels, and it generally define the application that it will be used for. When handling orders, we recommend the ideal thickness and size for the glass that you need, ensuring that your glass matches its exact purpose.

    • Used in picture frames, small insulated glass units.

    • Larger cabinet door panels, single pane window, small mirrors.

    • All general glass applications, such as table tops, insulated units, framed glass railings, shelves, framed shower doors.

    • Shelves, table tops, larger insulated units, framed glass railings, framed shower doors.

    • Larger shelves, larger table tops, countertops, shower doors

    • Shower doors and enclosures, very large table tops, very large shelves, larger countertops, mall fronts, glass doors and wall partitions.

    • Glass flooring, stair treads, tables, glass furniture, large shower doors and fixed panels, frameless glass railings.

    • Placing your order is quite simple and convenient. Simply select your preferred glass shape, insert the required dimensions, specify the thickness of your glass from the drop-down list, choose your glass type, ideal corner finishing and the type of edge work you require. Our list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) will also be helpful in choosing the product you desire in the ordering process. Our customized glass orders are then manufactured and packaged for delivery, to arrive at their destination in 10 to 14 business days.

    • Flat Polished Edges:

The flat edge mirror is our most popular finish, consisting of sanding and polishing the glass edges to acquire a satiny smooth, glossy finish. This is the best way to highlight the thickness of the glass and this strategy provides for a very modern look to augment your living space.

      Seamed Edge:

This choice is for safety as the edges are sanded down to remove ragged edges. Seamed edges are suited for framing due to their unfinished appearance. It is the most economical edge but it’s only recommended if the edges will be completely covered. For Glass Protector Tops, table tops, shelves, or anywhere the edge will be seen, only polished edges should be ordered.

    • Hydrofluoric acid must be applied on the glass to deliver a frosted look to its surface to produce Acid Etched Glass. Dependent on customer requirements, customized designs can be introduced to the glass in this acid-etching process and this can be accomplished on individual sheets of glass cut to size, be created on a portion of the glass or on large glass sheets.

    • 1/32’’ Eased Corner Finish: for safety purposes, the tip at each corner is slightly polished to remove sharp protrusions. This technique is known as the blunt edge. “Tips off” or “points off” are other terms used to describe this process.

The Radius Corner Finish: This encompasses cutting the corners of the glass into a radius shape (round shape), which is then polished to give a smoother, safer finish. Corner radius describes how rounded the corners are on a rectangular glass cut. The term “corner radius” refers to the radius of the circle created by extending the corner arc to form a complete circle. Rounded corners are available up to a 4’’ radius.
